BREAKING NEWS: SCHOLARSHIPS AT YOUR PREPARED DOOR

So yesterday, after dinner and putting the kids to bed, I picked up a book to read and came across the saying below from Winston Churchill:

“To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively taped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour”

Straight after reading this, I began thinking of you.

It got me thinking really about how prepared you are for scholarship opportunities.

Today, I am going to be brutally honest with you and tell you as it is. If you feel uncomfortable with me being honest, then feel free to unsubscribe, but even if you do, I would still remain confident that you would have left with an undeniable truth, which is that:

“You must be prepared and ready for scholarship opportunities. – Zino Ojogbo”

You see, there are 2 sides to winning scholarships.

First side is opportunity. Obviously, it goes without saying that if there are no scholarships available to win, then there is nothing to be won lol.

Second is the preparedness. You must be prepared to win scholarships and this means you must show that you are the ideal candidate for the scholarship(s).

We know scholarship opportunities will always exist as long as Universities and Programs remain in existence. Professors will continue to demand for Masters and PHD students for their research based programs. External scholarships like the Chevening and Mastercard Scholarships will continue to offer generous amounts of funding to competitive candidates year after year.

So we can agree at this point that scholarship opportunities will always exist.

Now let’s talk about preparedness. Are people always prepared for scholarship opportunities?

The clear answer is NO.

After Coaching thousands of students, I can confidently say this:

“ The lack of preparedness is the number 1 scholarship killer.  – Zino Ojogbo”

The truth is that if you are not prepared, opportunities will zoom past you. Sometimes you may not even see or notice these opportunities when they come knocking on your door. For example, do you know that one of the secrets to winning the chevening scholarship has to do with coming up with a study abroad mission that is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and that those that set up charities demonstrate this strongly? I will be setting up a Chevening Scholarship Mastermind for the 2025 Cohort by the beginning of the year. So if you are interested, click here to join the waiting list.

This is the kind of preparedness I am talking about. It is the seeking of knowledge and understanding about how to position yourself to take advantage of these scholarship opportunities when they come knocking because they always will!

So as 2023 comes to an end and you still have study abroad in 2024 in your plans, the question remains this:

How prepared are you for scholarship opportunities in 2024?

Here are some tips to get you prepared for scholarship opportunities in 2024

  1. Start working on your application documents e.g. International Passport, Transcript, Credential Evaluation etc.
  2. Have a strong and captivating Study Abroad Mission.
  3. Seek mentorship and trainings (SASS Masterclass)
  4. Network with fellow aspirants, current students and professors.
  5. Attend University Open Sessions and Webinars
  6. Align with your recommenders early.

Note that this is not an exhaustive list but just an initial list to get you started. In a follow on email, I will go into detail on each of these tips.

So there you have it. Ensure you are taking the right steps to keep you prepared for scholarship opportunities because they definitely will come knocking in 2024!

As usual, I remain dedicated to coaching you to achieve your study abroad dreams.
