HOW TO TURN REJECTIONS INTO SCHOLARSHIPS
Feb 09, 2024
So I was on LinkedIn a few days ago and saw this post from one of my mentors on LinkedIn.
“I was just reflecting on my career so far. You know I’ve definitely failed a lot more than succeeded, but I sincerely wish I’d failed even more!
And that’s because I don’t see failure as the opposite of success, I see it as an integral part of it”
So a lot of people ask me why I have so many mentors. They say things like, you already say Grant Cardone is your internet Uncle and many more you mention on instagram.
My response is usually that I do not even have enough. Here is my philosophy about mentorship and life in general. In life we make mistakes and these mistakes are the lessons we learn on the path to success.
This is how we build wisdom and achieve success. So why not accelerate your path to success by avoiding the mistakes others have made. This is the main benefit of mentorship and online you get access to all of these mentors.
So back to the matter. Why am I sharing this post?
I am sharing this post to switch your mindset about failure. In the study abroad space, the typical failure you would experience is rejection for an admission and/or scholarship opportunity.
How you handle it determines if you will succeed in winning scholarships or not.
The typical way I see people handle failure is by giving up and crying that the systems they have learnt are not working. When I get this response, it breaks my heart because these people do not understand how the principles of success works.
As Asim said “ I don’t see failure as opposite to success, I see it as an integral part of success”
So one of the fundamental principles of success is to own your failures by learning from them and improving your system and or approach.
I got rejected by the University of Alberta. I was denied funding at the University of Saskatchewan. But I owned these failures, learnt from them and continued to work hard and improve and ended up becoming a renowned scholar at the University of Waterloo.
This is my story. Your story can be similar if you follow this fundamental principle of success.
So now, promise me that you would own your rejections, learn from them and continue to seek and apply for opportunities to win scholarships and study abroad fully funded.
