THE EASIEST WAY TO WIN SCHOLARSHIPS

Feb 09, 2024

So before you get excited thinking that there is a magic formula here, CALM DOWN, there isnt lol. The journey to scholarship success is not easy but what I can promise you in this monday motivation and the study2relocate email list is that I WILL MAKE IT EASY FOR YOU TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THE MAP IN THIS JOURNEY. I will show you the shortcuts  to take (if there are any), the roads to avoid, and the quickest path through the mountains and rivers of challenges you will face as you journey towards study abroad success.

You may just be one application away from scholarship success. So keep applying!

If you take your time and study scholarship winners, you will find one common trait - which is that scholarship winners are PERSISTENT.

I will say it with full confidence here.

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.

Good grades will not. Do you know how many unsuccessful applicants are out there with good grades? Millions!

Even a First class degree on its own will not. My brother made a first class and got rejected in his first round of applications over a decade ago until he got knowledge. So its not by First Class degree.

Reading study abroad information on social media and even jumping from telegram group to telegram group looking for the magic formular will not. The study abroad space is full of people that have been doing reading this information all over social media for years and they have still not relocated and the Naira continues to depreciate! (for those in Nigeria).

Persistence and determination to learn and take action is omnipotent. As long as you are persistent in your pursuit for scholarship success, you will continue to grow and then scholarship success will follow.

So what does persistence look like when you are seeking study abroad success? Let me explain:

I will start with a quote from Denis Waitley

“(Study Abroad) Success is almost totally dependent upon drive and persistence. The extra energy required to make another effort (application) or try another approach (new knowledge) is the secret of winning (scholarhsips)”

Let me tell you a story of one of my mentees. Allow me to introduce you to Mbeki.

If persistence was a person, it would be Mbeki!

Mbeki started her study abroad journey a year ago. She stumbled across my page sometime in July this year and decided to work with me to achieve study abroad success via my 5-week group coaching mentorship program. During the program, Mbeki honed in on her course of best fit which was a research based course. She also developed a detailed list of research supervisors she was going to email and she started emailing them.

Earlier this month, Mbeki emailed me with excitement that she had gotten 3 replies from supervisor that were willing to discuss her research ideas with her. As the Study Abroad Guru and Mentor-in-Chief of the Scholarship Success Army, I went into action, giving her tips and connecting her with other important people to help prep her for these meeting. During our conversation, I asked her out of interest how many supervisors she emailed. Her answer will shock you!

SHE EMAILED 150 SUPERVISORS!

So that is 150 supervisors for 3 interviews! This is the intentional numbers game. This is persistence in action and I must put it to you right now that there is no other way to achieve study abroad success than with persistence.

It does break my heart when I see people come and cry in my DMs that they are tired after 3 rejections. Mrs B did 50 times the efforts to get the same number of acceptances as your rejections so pull yourself up and continue to apply.

Mrs B’s story teaches us one very important lesson to Never Give Up on Your Study Abraod Dreams even in the face of rejection. Remember you could just be one application away from scholarship success, one email away from finding a supervisor.

Here are some tips to help you stay persistent

  1. Keep your eye on the prize - stay focused on your study abroad goals and do not let rejections deter you.
  2. Develop a strong desire - you must want study abroad success so badly that you fnd the strength to persist.
  3. Surround yourself with supportive people i.e. those on the same journey, spouses that support your study abroad dream and coaches that can teach, mentor and motivate you.
  4. Take consistent action

So there you have it. Develop persistence and achieve study abroad success. We at SuccessFactors Migrations cannot wait to celebrate your scholarship success with you and your family.
