TIME HACK FOR STUDY ABROAD?
Feb 09, 2024
Are you struggling to find time to work on your study abroad goals?
Like that feeling where things just seem to come up any time you want to work on your study abroad goals.
You turn on your computer to write your SOP and then the power goes or your cousin from Surulere calls you to tell you the hottest gist about your Aunt's husband.
It is endless and before you know it days turn into weeks and weeks into months and nothing gets done.
Your academic CV remains a blank page and your SOP forgotten in paragraph 1.
That scholarship you wanted to apply for has gone past the deadline.
Does this sound familiar?
Truth is that I was in your shoes as well between 2015 and 2016.
I had a noisy 2 year old and I was working tirelessly to keep my struggling business afloat. So naturally, my study abroad goal was squeezed to the back of the queue.
Scholarship opportunities kept passing me by. My spirit was willing but I could not find the time.
I got to a point where I had enough and I had to figure out a way to find time to focus on my study abroad goals despite all of the activities calling for my attention in my busy life.
How did I do it?
Before I tell you that, I want to just say something real quick here. Time is a limited resource. We only have 24 hours in a day. What this means is that if you are not spending your time on one activity, you are spending it on another.
You are either working or scrolling through social media.
You are either writing your SOP or watching Big Brother.
You get the gist now. So how did I conquer time or rather create time to focus on my study abroad goals?
I HAD TO LEARN TO SAY NO
Yes, it is that simple. To create time for your study abroad goals, you must learn to say no to other activities. I like to call them TIME VAMPIRES THAT SUCK THE TIME AND LIFE OF YOUR STUDY ABROAD GOALS.
Say No to Netflix and chill to create time to watch that training video on writing research proposals
Say No to that Friday Night Outing to create time to complete your SOP
Say No to stalking your friends on Facebook to create time to email professors
With every no, you are actually saying YES TO YOUR STUDY ABROAD GOALS!
So there you have it. If you are struggling with time, examine your schedule and figure out what you have to say No to now so that you can say Yes to Fully Funded Opportunities to Study Abroad.
As usual, I remain dedicated to supporting you to achieve your study abroad goals.
